iPod touch firmware 2.2 changelog + wishlist

So, there's no real full changelog, I'll try to list the improvements I see.

1. Podcasts are available on iTunes via iPod touch.

2. Home button goes directly back to first page of apps if you are in the main screen.

3. You can turn autocorrect text off/on.

4. Safari and mail improvements (at least thats what apple's site says). I have noticed that the search bar has changed slightly.

5. New languages (apple's site says)

6. You can now update all apps with one button.

7. This isn't an update, but just fyi, YOU DON'T GET GOOGLE STREETVIEW like the iPhone does. There's a hack somewhere out there that lets you do so.

8. Is it me, or has flipping through the main screen has been improved? looks smoother!

I'll update as I see more things changed. But here's my wishlist

1. Autocomplete should be divided to auto spelling-correct and auto-format. I do like the iPod fixing my formatting errors such as capitalizing the first letter in the first word of the sentence, or capitalizing i when entered alone, but I do not like iPod fixing my spelling errors as most of the time they don't need to be fixed.

2. Add a "mark as read" feature to the mail app.

3. GIVE US GOOGLE STREETVIEW.

4. Improve the ability to move the icons to a different page screen. Sometimes when dragging over the icon to the side, the background won't move to another screen.

5. Ability to edit playlists on the iPod.

6. Fix the following bug: go into music, play a track, suspend the iPod, wake it with home button and IMMEDIATELY slide your finger to unlock (can be done even if the screen doesnt wake yet). This will unlock iPod AND exit the music app (normally the music app would stay open since unlocking the iPod will usually go back to where you were before you locked the iPod).

7. highlight/copy and paste function within the safari browser (useful when looking up tracking USPS numbers from account and typing into google.

8. If wishlist #7 will never be implemented, add the ability to head to address bar in safari without going all the way back up to the page, useful for googling a long number without trying to remember it.

9. In main screen: tap and then hold an app icon, this will go into settings of the app if it does have its own settings.

10.  Ability to turn off accelorometer, perhaps save battery life (i rarely need to put my iPod sidways for coverflow).

11. Profiles: I do like the iPod beeping me for an e-mail, but if I head to class, I want to easily put the iPod in silent mode without going through all the way to settings and changing the sound mode to headhpones only.

12. Stacks: similar concept to folders, allow users to stack icons on top of each other. When the stack is touched, it will expand as a separate screen. The main screen is getting crowded, and sorting icons take forever.

13. Follow up on 12, in iTunes on the computer, allow users to organize their icons via mouse. It's really heard to organize the icons, especially when moving over to different screens is difficult.

14. On the main screen, you know those white dots that are on top of the bottom row that lets you know which page you are on? Make it like the scrolling bar in the music list where when you swipe your fingers through the letters, it scrolls through the music much faster, so have the white dots scrollable so that the pages go through much quicker.

15. Snapshot in safari, let the user crop a page out, and have the ability to send it via e-mail or save to photos.

16. If stacks feature will never be implemented, have the home/main screen 2d. Right now it's 1D since it can only go left and right. Have it so that you can go up and down, so you can auto sort the apps into categories like games, sports, news, etc...

Office Depot is fucking ridiculous

Couple of rules on how NOT to run Office Depot on blackfriday:

1. Let people inside the store in 20 minute waves, let them buy all kinds of items that they can get their hands on. It's a "First come, serve all" not "first come first serve".

2. Allow those who says they "really need to photocopy something" to cut in line and head in first, do not keep an eye on them as they indefinitely will grab some items to purchase

775Dual-VSTA Modded bios updates. 3.10a 3.13c 3.13g

3.10a: Flashed fine, but it didn't allow 4gb ram like it promised

3.13c & g: Sort of flashed well, what happened was that whenever I changed a setting in BIOS, it would not save the settings. Instead, it'll constantly load default settings. Perhaps I need to check "Destroy Checksum" when flashing.

I'm back to the official 3.10 firmware now. I guess I won't be having 4gb ram anytime soon.

Asrock 775dual-vsta 3.10a modified bios

So I got these 2 sticks of ram (2x2gb DDR2800). My crappy asrock motherboard doesn't even support 4gb, but I did see a 3.10a modified bios available that supports 4gb ram. I flashed my bios and installed the new sticks, and boot failed. Not even past POST. My screen doesn't even show anything. So I took one stick out and everything is fine up until vista boot. Vista pops up with a boot screen. I'm going to try 3.13g next

No posts for a while…

For all 2 of you who are reading my blog (lol), I won't be posting for a while. Finals are coming up in 2.5 weeks and I need to cram 4 full courses of material in my head. Starting early is the best, though the amount of stuff I need to cram might be already too late to do so.

LittleBigPlanet is a little to easy.

I finished LittleBigPlanet. To be honest, I felt it was slightly short (of course theres a whole universe of user create levels out there to try). If they had included about 3-4 more full sized levels, I would feel a lot better. Also the final stage was a bit short and a bit easy. I had a lot more trouble doing the ninja levels than the final boss.

Still a good game to get if you haven't already though.

Project list!

I've got a few things to do. I'll list them here:

1. Add content to secondsunfan.com

2. Create artistqa website (more on that soon).

3. Create Infusion fansite (great electronic trio).

4. Cleanup nicholaschan.net
