Small steps

Doing these small little projects have been rewarding. I'll have to put my massive "Rez" project on the bottom of my to-do list until I can actually have a full-on portfolio. It's still something I wish to do but not until I have properly thought it out. Deciding to rewrite a game from scratch is never an exciting idea, starting on new projects is. Tomorrow I'll be releasing an update for my package tracker for auto-carrier detection, finish a facebook puzzle challenge, do some homework, and lastly take a look at LOVE (2D game engine).

First Google Extension!

The Komocode Package Tracker! Unlike all the other package trackers which take you through a third party site to track your packages. KPT is minimal, not bloated, and extremely quick. Give it a try!

Google Extensions!

So I had no clue google extensions are now officially supported. Perhaps my next project will be a new extension!

Not now.

I'm still holding off on even starting the 3D game project over again. I want to make sure I do things right this time. I thought up about 30% of the actual organization of the whole game in my head at the moment. I'm still having trouble on how to decide the traversing method of the player. Should every point be scripted? or would the paths be procedural (equation based)? If I go the scripted method, complex routes would be a pain to manually put in point by point. If I go the procedural method, I can probably get by quickly with the routes the player takes, but would be quite confusing to implement. I'm most likely going ahead with the scripted method and develop a small path application that can retrieve points from complex equations and generate code from it.
Right now I'm looking for my next web development project while I'm still planning out my game. A Google apps project sounds really attractive at the moment.

Might as well…

...show you what flyght 8 was. Here's a clip:

The video was recorded way back of last year. It shows off the sample-accurate audio/visual synchronization and 3D to 2D hud target handling. The project was initially demonstrated for my presentation on "Audio Programming". The current status of the project is going through a complete rewrite.

What’s Next?

After finishing QuicklyCMS, I was itching to get back to OpenGL programming. I opened up my old summer-fall project which was called flyght eyght. I realized how shitty the name sounded (or looked), so I definitely will decide on a new name.
So far, the only job my sceneManager is handling is depth sorting the transparent objects in the scene. I'm tempted to re-write most of the code to get sceneManager a bigger part of this project. About 75% of the code is located in the renderScene method which isn't a good idea. The hierachy tree for my objects need a re-do as well.
I do have the level completely planned out in my head. I need to research on some dynamic skies and/or environmental lighting. I originally planned on trying to not have any sort of lighting in the whole entire project simply because they are quite costly.
More on this soon...
Update: sometimes you got to bite the bullet. Yes, I've decided to rewrite most of the code since most of it doesn't even make sense to me at all and everything was just done in the wrong way.

QuicklyCMS is done!

There is one small bug left to fix, but everything else is in place and ready for deployment.
UPDATE: Bug fixed. It's released.

QuicklyCMS almost done!

Read a php/ajax/javascript book last weekend. Just started today on a small CMS project. It's mainly for me to learn the programming concept, so it's going to be VERY basic.

Just two days!

So in just two half-days of reading skimming Sams Teach Yourself Ajax, JavaScript, and PHP All in One, I've decided to try and write a simple Custom CMS. I think I have a good idea on how to implement one that's PHP/AJAX'ed. The only problem I might run into is how to create a secure login for managing the content.
